Gold bearing quartz is found by hard rock
miners and is a natural creation. The gold in these beautiful
jewelry pieces was mixed with white quartz when both were in
a molten state. When they solidified these natural veins of gold
were trapped within the quartz crystals.
Most of the high-grade white gold quartz
comes from either the Sixteen to One Mine in Northern California
or the Gympie Mine in Australia. The designs you will see on
our site all come from the California mine. Interestingly enough,
the name Sixteen to One was based on the ratio of 16:1 which
was the formula derived in the 1600's for the number of ounces
of silver in an ounce of gold.
The gold in the quartz usually runs between
18-20k. The quartz, which holds the gold, is extremely durable
and has a hardness rating of 7 on the Mohs hardness scale.
When cleaning your purchase, take care
to only clean it with mild soap and water and a soft toothbrush.
Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner or any harsh cleaners.
